Front-end Developer

Back-end Developer

Responsibilities

  • Develop responsive, accessible, high-quality WordPress themes and web applications using modern workflows and tools, while following the best coding standards.
  • Convert layered design mockups and assets to valid PHP/HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
  • Optimize web applications and assets for maximum speed, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Meet documented deadlines and complete tasks in accordance to project milestones.
  • Ability to implement designs and advance UI concepts that align with current industry and project accessibility standards.
  • Work directly with Senior or Lead Engineers on feature validation and code reviews.
  • Ability to lead the front-end strategy for a project and make impactful decisions about the methodologies recommended to a client.
  • Creating and maintaining projects built in modern JavaScript frameworks.

Requirements

  • Experience with Sketch or Design Software.
  • Advanced understanding of as implementations in a responsive environment.
  • At least two years experience with front-end engineering, web development, web engineering, or a similar field.
  • Strong understanding of HTML and CSS including cross-browser compatibility, performance, and WCAG accessibility compliance.
  • Proven ability to transform a static comp into a website from the ground up.
  • Understanding of ad implementations in a responsive environment.
  • Experience with coded style guides and creating highly componentized systems.
  • Experience with coding PHP, specifically for WordPress as a platform, including custom post types, taxonomies, and use of WordPress beyond typical "blog" use cases.
  • Being collaborative, self-motivated, and an "always-learning" person, excited to create great web experiences.

Nice to have

  • Design experience or formal design education.
  • Experience in mentoring and leading a team.
  • Experience with the React JavaScript library.
  • Experience using Git.
  • Experience and expertise with third party integrations and client-side APIs.
  • Strong ability to communicate with client stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, about the impact of decisions around markup approach, cross-platform responsive interactions, performance, and topics like accessibility and internationalization.
  • Understand the high-level concepts behind modern JavaScript frameworks and can architect and execute project-work as needed.
  • Code-based portfolio. Link us to your GitHub account, upload a .zip, or both (source files are helpful to get a sense of your code structure and file organization).

Responsibilities

  • Develop WordPress plugins and/or themes primarily using PHP.
  • Leverage WordPress APIs and extend the WordPress admin experience.
  • Solve complex problems in simple ways.
  • Solve bugs and address client issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Juggle current projects with incoming tasks.
  • Respond directly to clients courteously and clearly.
  • Solve client challenges with understanding and empathy.
  • Test solutions across multiple browsers and platforms in a local testing environment.
  • Deploy changes to live servers.
  • Assist in the remediation, enhancement, and maintenance of client sites.

Requirements

  • Intermediate skills in: PHP, JavaScript, WordPress, HTML, and CSS.
  • Code portfolio. Link us to your GitHub account, upload a .zip, or both.
  • Experience using Git.
  • Ability to setup a local environment for testing PHP code.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with technical and non-technical colleagues and clients.

Nice to have

  • Computer Science degree.
  • Experience working for demanding or enterprise-level clients.
  • Evidence of contribution to the broader web development community.
